What? Let's take it from the top. Lizaveta Ivanova is a character in Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. In short, she is killed, even after which she is hardly cared for except my Sonia. Sonia loved Lizaveta and only because of that does Raskolnikov even care that he accidentally killed the woman. Sheesh! Remind you of anyone you know?... moving on...
Stinking Lizaveta is an incredible band. This West Philly 3 consists of brothers Yanni and Alexi Papadopoulos (guitar and upright electric bass respectively) and Cheshire Augusta (drums). Since 1994 this group has been blowing minds. I'm trying to think of the year I found them. About 8 years ago, I'd say, in a random bar in downtown Wilmington, NC. I was there to see a local band that I had become friends with. I'm not big on going out, but I love music. I stay long enough for the show and head for the hills. Gollum's drummer, Hunter, told me to stick around, he had a feelings I'd dig the Liz. I was iffy, I get all creeped out around people, but I stayed. Seeing Alexi stroll on stage with a beautiful blue upright bass peaked my interest. Then they let it happen. And, I let it happen. And, I fell in awe. True story. I bought all 3 of their released albums that night. They will be recording their 7th next year. Which is what really brought me to writing this. They are raising money to help fund recording costs. Even a buck would help. If you are interested in checking out how to donate click here. Seriously, they'd be happy if you donated one dollar.
Guess what?!You can donate by default. Need some fluff to cover your little one's rump?
